French Hot Chocolate Wafers in gift canister
If you are a Portlander, you are likely to have savored our French hot chocolate. The key difference from the American versions, which are made with cocoa powder, is our use of our beautiful 74% organic Guittard wafers.
We recently experimented with a vegan version with oat milk and are thrilled with the results. Our simple recipe is provided, describing the classic cow's milk/cream version, or how to make it with oat milk. Each approach delivers equally delicious, rich results.
Our beautiful re-usable canister holds 18 oz of the wafers, which will make 9 generous cups. It is so rich that should you not be able to finish, place it in the fridge and within a couple of hours, it will become a chocolate mousse! And that transformation happens equally well with the vegan version!
