Save the date! On September 12, 2018, at 1 P.M., we open our chocolate creation and boutique space in the heart of Portland's West End. We will be open from 1 P.M. to 7 P.M. every Wednesday to Sunday.
Back in March, our West End Place landlord selected our proposal, which was among a good half dozen, all made by food makers. Ever since we have been planning the build out. The great team of Ryan and Ryan, under the direction of our fabulous builder Warren O'Shea, has been hard at work for the last 6 weeks.
Their tasks went well beyond painting and adding flooring: our production uses many large and small machines, so Jay the electrician had to add a zillion outlets. Plumbing requirements were equally demanding with the addition of several sinks - think! we will have SIX sinks in 500 s.f.! But every one is absolutely needed.
The floor plan above shows the clear division of the space into two production spaces and the boutique core at center. We got six really comfy bar stools for our customers, so they can have a chocolat chaud or fancy French tea at our beautiful granite counters. Said counters will hold glass cases filled with our chocolates. We will also have 8 bins with French candy that you can scoop and buy by weight. And lest we forget little kids with limited funds, we will also carry fantastic French lollipops for 50 cents!
In the next blog entry, we will share news of the local Fork Food Lab makers and others who will sell their yummy food in our space, and much more about the coming delights of 189 Brackett Street!
